Baggage limit per person flights to/from USA / CANADA:
- 2 pieces of baggage with total linear dimensions (length+height+width) not exceeding 273 cm (107 inches), total linear dimensions of each piece of baggage shall not exceed 32 kg.
- 1 carry on the total dimensions (length+height+width) must not exceed 115 cm whose weight should not exceed 10 kg.
Flights to/from places other than USA / CANADA
- 20 kg for Economy Class passengers, the hand baggage included.

Bucharest-Otopeni International Airport is located 16.5 km N of Bucharest. After 35 years in operation, the airport has now a new passenger departure terminal. The main hall has 10 embarking gates, half of them being directly linked with the plane through an air-bridge. There are 44 check-in offices joined in four groups.
There are some possibilities for transport from/to the airport:
BUS. 783 Express bus links Bucharest Otopeni International Airport with the center of Bucharest (about 40 minutes). The stops are:
- BANEASA Airport (connection to bus 301 and 335)
- Piata Presei Libere (Sofitel, Crowne Plaza, Best Western Parc and Turist Hotels) (connection to bus 301 and 33)
- Piata Victoriei (Minerva, Ibis, Euro Hotels) (subway links between Piata Victoriei and North Railway Station ) (connection to bus 301)
- Piata Romana (Minerva, Ibis, Lido, Opera Hotels) (connection to bus 301 and subway)
- Piata Universitatii (Lido, Intercontinental, Bulevard, Central, Capitol, Majestic, Continental, Ambasador Hotels) (connection to bus 301 and subway)
- Piata Unirii (Horoscop, Dalin Hotels)
- Airport stops: in front of ARRIVALS /DEPARTURES Terminal.
CARDS BOOTH. In front of the Arrivals Terminal. Program: daily 6AM - 8:30PM. Tariff: $1 magnetic card/two ways
ACCESS TO THE NORTH RAILWAY STATION
“ Piata Victoriei ” and “ Piata Unirii ” 783 express stops have subway stations with direct connection to the North Railway Station.
783 EXPRESS SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday: 5:30AM - 11:40PM (at every 15 min) . Saturday, Sunday, legal holidays 5:30AM - 11:30PM (at every 30 min)
TAXI. Available in front of the Arrivals Terminal. Prices vary from one taxi company to another.
Special flow " TAXI by order " for the taxi cars which bring clients to the Arrivals Terminal or which come at the airport in order to take those passengers who ordered them.
The taxi cars which bring clients at the airport have free access in front of the Departures Terminal. For any complaints about the taxi services, please write down the registration number of the car and dial 201 3242 - Otopeni Transports Police.
National currency: Romanian Leu (ROL) For various transactions and money exchange, we recommend you to contact only authorized institutions, such as the exchange offices in the arrival terminal. Most banks and exchange offices only accept new, unmarked bills.
At the entry in Romania:
- The following items must be inscribed in the entry customs declaration:
1. local currency (new ROL) in amount of over 500.
2. foreign currencies in amount of $10000 or equivalent in other currencies
3. guns, ammunition, explosives, radioactive and nuclear materials, drugs, essential chemicals or toxic materials;
4. jewelry exceeding quantities for the personal purpose;
5. alcoholic drinks exceeding 2 l; cigarettes in a qty. exceeding 200 pcs.
6. any kind of goods with a total value of over Euro 100;
6. cultural, historical and art objects in order to get the permissions for taking out later.
7. Prohibited: uncanned animal products, meats, milk or dairy products.
8. Pets: cats and dogs need a combined health and Rabies Inoculation Certificate (legalized by Veterinary Service in country of Origin), issued at least 1month but not more than 12months (cats 6 months) before transportation.
At the exit of Romania:
- The following items must be inscribed in the exit customs declaration:
1. local currency (new ROL) in amount of over 500.
2. foreign currencies in amount of $10000 or equivalent in other currencies
3. guns, ammunition, explosives, radioactive and nuclear materials, drugs, essential chemicals or toxic materials;
4. jewelry exceeding quantities for the personal purpose;
5. alcoholic drinks exceeding 2 l; cigarettes in a qty. exceeding 200 pcs.
6. any kind of goods with a total value of over Euro 100 (mobil phones, video cameras, etc) in case of Romanian citizens (for vamal taxes exemption at the re-entry in Romania);
Visa: required, except for:
- don’t need a visa for Nationals of Romania and Republic of Moldova
- don’t need a visa for up to 30 days for Nationals of Bulgaria, Czech Rep, Croatia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Slovak Rep, Slovenia, Yugoslav Fed Rep, United Kingdom, USA.
- don’t need a visa for up to 60 days for Nationals of Turkey
- don’t need a visa for up to 90 days for Nationals of Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russian Fed, San Marino, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine.
Additional information:
All visitors must hold onward/return tickets,all documents required for next destination and sufficient funds (approx. $50 - per day) for maintenance during their stay in Romania. Staying longer in Romania than the validity of the visa will result in a penalty of new ROL 750 (equivalent of $30) for all non-Romanian residents.
No vaccinations are required to enter Romania, whatever your country of origin.
